How do I get a library card?

Everyone may use the library, but to check out materials, you must get a library card. If you live within the legal limits of the Westville Public Library District: bring two forms of identification with your name and current street address (such as a photo ID and a recent piece of mail), and fill out an application at our checkout desk. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must fill out and sign your application at our checkout desk. Resident library cards are valid for three years.
If you live outside the legal limits of the Westville Public Library District, but own property within our District limits, bring your most recent property tax bill receipt for the property that you own in our District, as well as identification described above.
If you live outside our District and do not own property within our District, State law requires us to charge a non-resident fee that is at least comparable to the average property taxes that the Library receives from its residents. Westville Public Library District's current non-resident fee is $35.00, and the card would be valid for one year. Bring in two forms of identification as described above and fill out an application at our checkout
What are the loan periods for library materials?

The Westville Public Library District has different loan periods for materials in our collection. Materials borrowed from other libraries are loaned according to rules established by the lending institution.
Fiction and non-fiction books, audio books, music CDs, and magazines may be checked out for three weeks. They may be renewed once if there is no reserve request for the titles.
VHS or DVD movies may be checked out for seven days, and may be renewed. There is a $1.00 per day per item late fee for movies returned after the due date. There is also a 50¢ rewind charge for each VHS tape returned that is not rewound.
A $5.00 processing fee will be added to any item belonging to the Westville Public Library District that is lost or damaged.
Materials in the Reference Department may not be checked out.
How can I renew library materials?

You may request renewal of most library materials at our checkout desk or by phone (217-267-3170). Exceptions include items with a reserve request by another patron.
You may also renew items online by logging in to your Library Account at Lincoln Trail Libraries System.   You are allowed up to a maximum of 2 online renewal requests.  You will need your patron barcode number and your PIN.
What is my PIN number?

Your PIN is usually the last four digits of your phone number.  Upon request we can change your PIN to a different four digit number.
How can I reserve library materials?

Most library materials that are in circulation may be reserved for a patron. For materials owned by other libraries, please ask us about Interlibrary Loan.
Items may be reserved in person, by phone (267-3170), or online. Patrons must have a valid public library card in the Lincoln Trail Libraries System to use the online service.
At the time of your request, you can specify pick up of the item at any library in the Lincoln Trail Libraries System.
How Do I access my Library Account online?

When you search for and place a request for an item in the Linc Pac Catalog database  on the Lincoln Trail Libraries website, you will be prompted to log in to complete the request.  You will type in your complete bar code number from your library card, and enter your PIN number.

Once you are logged in to your library account, you will be able to view any items you have checked out and their due dates.
What is the LINC Pac Catalog?

There are three versions of the catalog:

LINC Pac  – this online catalog is the primary resource for searching and placing holds on more than 2 million items owned by the participating libraries.

LINC Pac-Spanish - this is the Spanish version of the LINC Pac.

Kid's Cat
– is the graphical interface for younger users.  This version searches the same materials but uses pictures to aid in the search.
